Dongguan, China, Sep 5: A key 26-14 third quarter helped Canada smash Senegal 82-60 in Group H of the 2019 FIBA World Cup here on Thursday.
Cory Joseph, who played for NBA's Indiana Pacers, had a game-high 24 points for Canada and Kevin Pangos added 13 points. Mouhammad Faye pocketed team-best 14 points for Senegal.
Both Canada and Senegal suffered two defeats prior to the game, which means they have no chance to play in the round of 16.
A 12-0 run help Senegal lead the first quarter 22-11, but Canada equalized in the later half of the second quarter and led by 33-32 as time ran out.
Five three-pointers helped Canada widen the gap in the third quarter 59-46, and a 6-0 run in the last quarter put Canada 20 points ahead, enough to seal the victory. The two teams will play in the classification round of 17-32 in Shanghai from September 7. (UNI-XINHUA)
