New Delhi, Sep 3: Riding on Aklima Khatun’s hat-trick, Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Pratisthan (BKSP) beat Rabia Balkhi, Afghanistan by 6-0 in the quarter-final and progressed to the semi-finals of Subroto Cup, in U-17 girls category, here at the Ambedkar Stadium on Tuesday.
In the second quarter-final, Nilmani English School from Manipur registered an emphatic 5-1 victory against GVHHS of Kerala.
The North Eastern side raced to a four goal lead by half-time, putting the tie beyond GVHHS. Sreelaxmi pulled one back in the second half for Kerala but it was nothing more than a consolation as Manipur added a fifth goal to win the match.
In another quarter-final, Tamil Nadu’s Govt Girls Higher Secondary School beat SAI Salt Lake Kolkata 2-1.
Tamil Nadu took the lead fifteen minutes into the game before Kolkata drew level just four minutes later through their talisman Nitu Nilda, who scored her eight goal of the campaign. However, D Ananthi’s 32nd minute strike and a goalless second half ensured that Tamil Nadu progressed to the last four of the competition.
The fourth quarter-final featured Assam’s Simbargaon High School and Umthli Higher Secondary School from Meghalaya, in which Simbargaon High School won it from a solitary goal by Apurna Narzary. (UNI)
