Kolkata, Sep 01 : Season's first city derby ended in goalless draw at the Salt Lake stadium as the footballing rivals East Bengal and Mohun Bagan shared one point each at the premier Kolkata Football League here today.

However, the Red and Gold have 7 points from four games and the defending champion Mohun Bagan have 5 points from 4 games so far in the league table.

The draw meant the Mariners halted the hat-trick of wins of East Bengal in Kolkata derby.

A scoreless football between the city giants proved the Kolkata outfits will have tough time in the I-League this year. Both the outfits have already tested defeat at the hand of Kerala Gokulam in the recently held Durand Cup in the city for the first time.

Defending champions Mohun Bagan were held in a stalemate by resurgent East Bengal in Calcutta Football League.

Kibu Vicuna's side did enough to prevent EB's Alejandro Menendez a hattrick of Kolkata Derby victories.

Marti Crespi was the main star for East Bengal, preventing at least one goal through his defending skills.

EB forwards spoiled a host of opportunities created by pacy winger Pintu Mahata.
