Sydney, Aug 30 : Australian international defender Trent Sainsbury has moved from Dutch heavyweights PSV Eindhoven to Israeli outfit Maccabi Haifa.
The 27-year-old signed a two-year contract, reuniting him with fellow Australian Nikita Rukavytsya, who has scored 31 goals in 102 appearances since arriving at Maccabi in 2016.
Despite having won 12 league titles in their history, Maccabi finished second from bottom in last season's Israeli Premier League, and are currently looking to end a nine-year championship drought.
Capped 46 times by Australia, Sainsbury played in every minute of the Socceroos' 2018 World Cup campaign in Russia, as well as appearing in four games at this year's Asian Cup, where Australia bowed out at the semifinal stage. Before moving to PSV, Sainsbury had an 18-month spell with Jiangsu Suning, appearing 46 times for the Chinese Super League outfit. (XINHUA)
