Lucknow, Aug 24 : 59th National InterState Seniors Athletics Championships 2019 will be organised by Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association (UPAA) from August 27 to 30 here at the PAC Athletics Stadium.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and UP BJP president Swantra Dev Singh, will grace the key ceremonies of the event as chief guests. 600 athletes, from India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Iran, Kazakhstan and Bhutan will participate in the four-day championship which will include 22 events in both groups (male & female).
This Championships will give another opportunity to Indian athletes to qualify for participation in IAAF World Championships in Athletics to be held at Doha (Qatar) from September 27 to October 6.
Athletes participating in this Championships are: Hima Das (400 Mtr.),Dutee Chand (200 Mtr.), Sudha Singh (3000 Mtr. and Captain UP Team - Women), Jinson Johnson (800 Mtr.), Harpal Singh (Steeplechase),Tejender Singh (Shot put), MohdAnas( 400Mtr.), Shiv Shankar (Long Jump) and Shiv Pal Singh (Javelin and Captain UP Team – Men).

This enables us to offer a platform to budding sportspersons to emerge and make prominent space in the world’s sports landscape. To see India on top in the global sports space is a dream we all have been yearning for years. It is a great platform to make that dream come true,” Dr Lalit Khaitan, Chairman, PHD Chamber said on Saturday.
