Basel (Switzerland), Aug 21 : India's star shuttler P V Sindhu defeated Pai Yu Po of Taipei in the women's singles of the second round progressing to round three of the BWF World Badminton Championships here on Wednesday. Earlier, fifth seed Sindhu got first round bye and faced Pai Yu Po of Taipei in round two beating her in straight sets 21-14, 21-15 ending the game in 43 minutes.
In the first game both were at 5-5, but then Sindhu took a 11-7 lead and gained four consecutive points taking a 14-8 lead against much lower ranked Pai Yu Po of Taipei. Sindhu upped the ante with her powerful shots, but lost couple of points due to an error, however the Indian managed to take 18-10 lead. But finally won the opening game 21-14.
Sindhu continued her domination in the second game as well over her rival and took the game away from Taipei player winning the decider game 21-15. Sindhu has now 3-0 career record against Pai. The Indian shuttler next faces Beiwen Zhang in the round of 16.UNI
