Buenos Aires, Aug 18 : Colombian forward Rafael Santos Borre scored two first-half goals as River Plate romped to a 6-1 win over defending champions Racing Club in the Superliga Argentina on Saturday.
Racing took an early lead at the Cilindro through an Augusto Solari strike but River shocked the hosts with three goals in as many minutes.
The first two came from Santos Borre before Matias Suarez left the hosts reeling by making it 3-1 just before halftime.
Racing's night went from bad to worse when Leonardo Sigali was shown a straight red card for a crude challenge on Suarez just after the restart. Ignacio Fernandez, Nicolas de la Cruz and Nacho Scocco added three more goals in the last half hour as River assumed top spot in the 24-team standings after three rounds.
In other matches on Saturday, Rosario Central drew 2-2 at San Lorenzo and Newell's Old Boys beat Union 2-0 at home. (UNI-XINHUA)
