Indian Cricket head coach: Phil Simmons withdraws

A member of the CAC informed Hindustan Times that Simmons has pulled out of the race before breaking for lunch. Ravi Shastri is expected to make his presentation at around 5 pm while the press conference to announce the name of the coach is slated for 6 pm as of now.

Former West Indies opener Phil Simmons is learnt have withdrawn from the race to become the head coach for Indian Cricket team.

But he did not reveal the reason behind his withdrawal. Currently, the interview for selecting the head coach for Indian Cricket team is undergoing under the leadership of former Indian captain Kapil Dev. A three member team of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is meeting the six coaches who have been short-listed.

The selection process is going on at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai.

Ravi Shastri is expected to make his presentation at around 5 pm. Former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson, former India fielding coach and player Robin Singh, and former India manager Lalchand Rajput appeared in person for the interview. Australia’s Tom Moody will go for a Skype interview.

It is learnt that the name of the coach will be announced at 6 pm.
