It has also been included in the next Asian Games to be held in Guangjhow in 2022. Dragon boat race has also been included as a demonstration event in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Unlike rowing, canoeing or kayaking, in a dragon boat race, the crew of 10 paddlers sits side by side in two rows, with one at the helm and a drummer to set the pace of the race. The crews paddle on one side of the boat only.
