Bangkok, Aug 2 : Continuing their brilliant run, India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Choi Solgyu and Seo Seung Jae of Korea to qualify to the men's doubles semifinals of Thaliand Open here on Friday.
The unseeded Indian duo fought hard for an hour to beat their Korean rivals by 21-17 17-21 21-19 in a quarterfinals.
The 16th-ranked Indians will now face Korean pair of Ko Sung Hyun and Shin Baek Cheol in the semifinals on Saturday.
In men's singles category, Sai Praneeth suffered a straight games defeat by 18-21, 12-21 against seventh seed Kenta Tsuneyama of Japan.
In the final match of the day, Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj were knocked against third seeds Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino. The Japanese duo won by 21-13, 21-15 in less than 30 minutes. (UNI)
