Bangkok, Aug 1: India's ace shuttlers Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth and P Kashyap crashed out of the Thailand Open as they lost their second-round matches respectively here on Thursday.

In the absence of PV Sindhu, who earlier pulled out of the tournament, the World No 8 Saina Nehwal was spearheading India's challenge in women's singles, suffered a set back after an excellent performance against Thailand's Phittayaporn Chaiwan on Wednesday as she lost to lower-ranked Sayaka Takahashi of Japan by 21-16, 11-21, 14-21 in 48 minutes.

Meanwhile, Fifth seed Kidambi Srikanth was ousted in the 2nd round against local shutter Khosit Phetpradab by 21-11, 16-21, 12-21.

Another Indian shuttler, unseeded Parupalli Kashyap also had a straight-game defeat to higher-ranked Chou Tien Chen by 9-21, 14-21 in 33 minutes.

In men's doubles, India's pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stunned 6th seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto 21-17, 21-19 in 39 minutes to reach the quarter-finals. (UNI)
