Ireland bowlers tore through the top order of the World Cricket Champions, England, on Wednesday at Lord's and limited England's first innings to 85 before lunch on the day 1 of the Test match.
This is the second lowest score for England in 2019. Earlier, in January 2019, England got a batting crash against West Indies at Bridgetown and all out for 77.
Heroic batsmen of the World Cup Champions have collapsed one after the other like a pack of card. The highest score for England was made by Joe Denly who was caught in LBW off Mark Adair for 23. Most of the top order English batsmen surrendered for a single digit score viz. Rory Joseph Burns (6), Jason Roy (5), Joe Root (2), Jonny Bairstow (0), Moeen Ali (0), Chris Woakes (0), and Stuart Broad (3). Sam Curran (18) and Olly Stone (19) are the two defy the trend.
While Ireland's Tim Murtagh scaled five wickets, Mark Adair got three wickets. Boyd Rankin took the rest of the two wickets.
