Rio De Janeiro, Jul 24: Brazilian giants Corinthians have signed highly rated Colombian teenager Juan Torres from Argentina's Banfield.
The 18-year-old forward completed a medical at Corinthians' youth team headquarters in Sao Paulo and will begin training with his new teammates within days.
"It's a big step in my football career to come to this country and especially this club," Torres told Colombian newspaper El Heraldo.
"This (the Brazilian Serie A championship) is a league that I believe will help me to develop my football and I'm going to give all I've got to succeed at Corinthians."
No financial details were given but media reports said that Torres had a 15 million US-dollar release clause written into his Banfield contract.
Dubbed 'The Wonderkid' by Colombia's media, Torres relocated to Argentina a decade ago to join Banfield's youth academy. He signed his first professional contract the Buenos Aires club last year. (UNI-XINHUA)
