Mohun Bagan to honor nonagenarian Olympian Keshav Dutta

Kolkata, Jul 23 : Century-old Mohun Bagan for the first time to honour a non-footballer Keshav Chandra Dutt, winner of two-time Olympic gold medal in field hockey for India, with " Mohun Bagan Ratna" to mark club foundation day on July 29.

Ninety-three-year-old former halfback Keshav Chandra Dutt, who was part of India team that won gold medals at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics. ( London in 1948 and Helsinki in 1952), is the first non-footballer to have won Mohun Bagan Ratna award, the club announced after an executive committee meeting on Monday evening.

Mohun Bagan every year on July 29 celebrates 3club day to mark the first IFA Shield win for any Indian club in 1911. Besides Dutt, former India captain and midfielder turn TMC MP Prasun Banerjee will be honoured with this year’s Mohun Bagan Ratna Award.
Mohun Bagan also announced the Best Footballer for the 2018-19 will be given to Arijit Bagui and India's fast bowler Mohammed Shami would also be felicitated for his noteworthy performance during the recently concluded ICC World Cup.

Former India striker Ashok Chatterjee will get the Lifetime Achievement Award and life membership to be given to Chuni Goswami, former hockey star Vece Paes, Sourav Ganguly, actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Deb Shankar Halder.(UNI)
