Hyderabad, Jul 3 : The first-day of Hyderabad Sailing Week (HSW) here on Wednesday has proved beyond expectation of sailors.

The event is being jointly organised by the EME Sailing Association (EMESA) and Secunderabad Sailing Club under the aegis of Laser Class Association of India supported by the Sports Authority of Telangana State.

Strong winds tested the sailing skills of sailors.

Though the budding sailors had tough time it was a delight to watch experienced sailors surfing smoothly as they swiftly manoeuvre the boat.

The wind was between 10 to 12 knots and was gusting up to 15 to 17.

Pin event start was favourable as we witness all experienced sailors tactfully placing themselves close to the start line and the rest of the fleet followed.

In laser standard category, it was Gitesh of AYN who bagged gun position in 1st and 3rd race while the 2nd race saw a very close competition between Z Muzahid khan and Gitesh as both were gunning for gun position.

We saw Muzahid taking lead as they moved for the last windward mark rounding.

RS:X class category saw a tough competition as defending champion Jerome could only get one gun in race 3.

Sharad Singha and PP Mutthu were off to a great start on day one as the bagged two out of three gun position in 470 class category.(UNI)
