Chennai, July 3: The Madras Gymkhana Club (MGC) AITA National Series (Under 18) Boys and Girls Tennis Tournament from July eight to 13 at the Club Courts in the city.
The qualifying rounds will be played on July 6 and 7. The main draw matches would commence from Monday and the semifinals and finals will be held on July 12 and 13 respectively. The sign-in for the Qualifying is on July five.
Over 200 players from 17 states, including Tamil Nadu, would be taking part in the tournament of which 88 entries were received for the Girls event and 120 in the Boy's section. Prominent players in Boys section were Krishan Hooda of Chandigarh and Divesh Gahlot of Haryana and in Girls were Sanjana Sirimalla of Telangana and Prerna V Vichare of Maharashtra, a release from TNTA on Wednesday said.
Rajesh Kannan R S and Rishi Paventhan of Tamil Nadu and Lavanyaa Sreekirishnan and KaavyaPalani of Tamil Nadu will lead the home team challenge. Holding such tournaments would give Tamil Nadu players, in particular, an opportunity to do well in home conditions and earn valuable ranking points to enable them to improve their performance and ranking.
