Chandigarh, Jun 17 : Confederation of Indian Industry(CII)-Young Indian(YI) team has lifted the prestigious Corporate Premier League(CPL) cricket trophy, the second time in a row, defeating TT Consultants (TTC) by 5 wickets in a day-night final played here at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.
In a 20-20 overs match TTC won the toss and elected to bat first but could score only 132 runs, thanks to Mohan who enthralled the audience with scintillating innings of 59 runs hitting four sixes and five fours in just 45 balls. CII-Yi finding it an easy target clinched it in 18.1 overs scoring 135 runs.
Sushil Chaudary of CII-Yi added to his team’s victory by scoring a marvelous 47 runs in just 29 balls and was awarded Man of the Match and Best All-Rounder of the tournament.Rahul Kad from Team Federal Mogul was chosen the Best Batsman of the tournament owing to his scintillating performance. Vishek from TTC was declared Best Bowler of the tournament.
Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director– Sports, Chandigarh Administration, on the occasion while congratulating the participants said, “Corporate Professionals should engage in Sports more frequently”. He appreciated the initiative by CII-Yi and expressed that he would like to see more such sports activities in the near future.
Sushil Kapoor, Spokesperson, Punjab Cricket Association, Mohali was also present during the match and encouraged the teams to showcase the best of their talents.Sarvjeet Sing Virk, Chairman, CII and Arvind Kanwar, Chairman, CII-YI Chapter were among the dignitaries present on the occasion and cheered the both teams for their performance.
