Coimbatore, Jun 8 : IDEMITSU Honda Ten10 Racing team on Saturday started its points tally with victory in the first Pro-Stock 165cc race of the season at the Kari Motor Speedway here.
In the Pro-Stock165cc championship, the morning qualifier boosted Sarath Kumar to the second start position on the race grid. Post that, Sarath zoomed forth and was the first to cross the chequered line, stopping the clock at 12:23:441 seconds with a huge 3.231 second lead over competition.
The three IDEMITSU Honda Ten10 Racing team riders too went strong and climbed one position each from their start position on the grid. K Kannan jumped one position to finish 4th. Aravind B finished 6th (+1 position gain) and Yashas R L gained 1 position to finish 8th, while ProLap racing Rajkamal K B gained 3 sports was the 12th to cross finish line.
The race 1 of CBR 150R Novice turned out to be a nail biting race amongst the 19 young guns identified through 2018 Honda talent Hunt.Maintaining his position from Friday's qualifier, local talent Varoon S took the pole position at 13:31:952 with the best lap at 1:19:523. He was followed by Aizawl talent Lalrinuala Tlau (2nd ).
Completing the podium was Chennai boy Charan T who made spectacular gains after his crash in qualifying which put him back of the grid at 18th position.Equally noteworthy was the recovery of the 12-year-old Sarthak Shrikant from Pune. Despite starting 17th on grid after Friday's crash, Sarthak showed his racing prowess to overtake 13 riders and finish 4th. (UNI)
