Buenos Aires, Jun 8: Former Argentina and Chile assistant coach Sebastian Beccacece has been named manager of Independiente, the Argentine first division club said.
The 38-year-old replaces Ariel Holan, who parted ways with the club after two and a half years on Thursday.
"I want a team that people fall in love with," Beccacece told a news conference on Friday, explaining his plan for Independiente to play attractive football.
"This is a demanding club. We know how big Independiente are. It's going to be a beautiful challenge," added the 38-year-old, who agreed to a one-year deal.
Beccacece worked as an assistant under Jorge Sampaoli with Chile from 2012 to 2015 and Argentina in 2017 and 2018. His last managerial position was with Defensa y Justicia, whom he led to second place in the 2018-19 Superliga Argentina standings.
Independiente finished the season seventh in the 26-team competition.
