New Delhi, Jun 6: Former India skipper Bhaichung Bhutia congratulated Sunil Chhetri on surpassing him to become India’s most capped International player.
"I am extremely proud of you. Big congratulations to you Sunil. You are really a good player and captain. I hope you will continue with your good performance for the team," Bhutia said.
India skipper Chhetri on Wednesday overtook his mentor Bhutia’s record of 107 matches when he captained India in the King’s Cup opener against Curacao. However, Indian team failed to give their captain a gift of win as they lost the match 1-3.
Chettri was the only goal scorer from his side. It was his 68th international goal.
Former India midfielders Renedy Singh, Mahesh Gawli and striker Abhishek Yadav also hailed Chhetri for the achievement.
