Sydney, May 22 : Sydney FC were thrashed 4-0 by visiting Kawasaki Frontale in Asian Champions League match in the final Group H match, leaving Sydney without a win and rooted to the bottom of the group.'

Fielding a team of youngsters including two debutants, it didn't take long for the Japanese to strike on Tuesday evening. Wideman Yasuto Wakizaka picked up two goals in the 9th and 20th minutes, before midfielder Ao Tanaka made it 3-0 in the first half when he found the back of the net in the 28th minute.

With 66 percent of possession and 23 shots on goal compared to Sydney's five, Kawasaki piled on the pressure and made it 4-0 after the break when Brazilian forward Leandro Damiao scored in the 59th minute. "It was a good experience for the younger boys. I'm sure they'll take something out of the game and they played against a very good team," Sydney FC coach Steve Corica told reporters after the match.

Despite the victory, Kawasaki finished third in Group H and will not progress to the next stage of the tournament. South Korean powerhouses Ulsan topped the group and China's Shanghai SIPG finished second. (UNI-XINHUA)
