Visakhapatnam, May 12 : Two Andhra Pradesh skaters have been selected to represent India in Artistic Skating in the coming World Roller Games 2019 to be held from June 27 to July 14 in Barcelona, Spain.

The selections trails held at Nandurbar (Maharashtra) from May 1-5 followed by camp till May 15, Mahendra Kumar Tated, General Secretary, Shivaji Park Skating Association (SPSA), said in a release here on Sunday. Srilaasya Vempatatu, who was selected for Barcelona games, is her maiden International Event and is confident of winning accolades for India.

She holds Bronze Medal in recently held 56th National Roller Skating Championship at Visakhapatnam. While another skater Priyam Tated, the winner of National Child Award ( Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar – 2019) Conferred upon by President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Jan 22, 2019, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently and participated in Republic Day Parade on Jan 26. He has been representing India Continuously since 2016 at Various International Events.

Coaches P Satyanarayana is working really hard with the skaters to make sure Indian Flag is raised in the upcoming World Roller Games 2019, he said. The team is likely to depart for championship between June 25 and July 3 to get acclimatised and return after completion of the championships, he added. (UNI)
