Doha, Apr 23 : Shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor clinched a gold medal on the second day of the Asian Athletics Championships in Doha.
National record holder Toor’s first-round throw of 20.22m was enough to fetch him a gold in the men’s shot put on Monday.
The 24-year-old Toor, who has a personal best of 20.75m, had entered into the championships as the season leader among the Asians.
This Punjab athlete had also won a gold medal with a best performance of 20.75 meters in Jakarta Asian Games. He also won silver medal with a throw of 19.77m in the Asian Championships held in Bhubaneswar in 2017.
With the five medals on Monday, India's medal tally stood at 2 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze. India had won 2 silver and 3 bronze on the first day on Sunday. (UNI)
