New Delhi, Apr 21: Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday was fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow-over rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
''As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Ashwin was fined Rs 12 lakh," read an IPL statement. Ashwin has now become the fourth captain to be fined for slow over-rate in the ongoing IPL. He joins Mumbai Indian's Rohit Sharma, Royal Challengers Bangalore's Virat Kohli and Rajasthan Royals' former captain Ajinkya Rahane in the unwanted list.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) lost the match by 5 wickets to DC when they couldn’t defend a score of 163 runs on a sluggish pitch at the Kotla. (UNI)
