Berlin and coach Dardai to part ways in summer

Agency News

Berlin, Apr 17 : Hertha Berlin and their head coach Pal Dardau have agreed to part ways at the end of the season, the Bundesliga club announced in an official statement has said. After a detailed analysis, Hertha Berlin and Pal Dardai mutually agreed that a change in the coaching position in the summer is the right decision.

"Four and a half years of very good and constructive cooperation are a very long time in the professional business but now we have come to the conclusion that a new impetus in the summer is the right step for Hertha," Berlin's sporting director Michael Preetz said.

The 43-year-old coach took the reins in February 2015 and helped Hertha Berlin to avoid relegation. In the following years, Hertha Berlin developed under Dardai and were able to establish themselves in the Bundesliga midfield. However, recent performances show a downtrend as the "Old Lady" suffered their fifth straight loss and their 12th defeat overall this season against Hoffenheim on Sunday.

"It were very intense and eventful years for me as a head coach at Hertha Berlin. I am grateful for the opportunity I got here and I am very proud of what we have achieved during this time but sometimes it is time for a change," Dardai said. The former Hungarian international will step down after the season but he will remain at Hertha Berlin and take the helm as a youth coach. 11th placed Hertha Berlin encounter last placed Hannover at the 30th round in Bundesliga on Sunday.  (Xinhua)
