Windhoek, Apr 15 : Namibia's senior men's football coach, Ricardo Mannetti, reacting to the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw, said recently that Namibia are the underdogs in Group D.
Namibia was pitted in Group D together with Morocco, South Africa, and Cote d'Ivoire in a draw on Friday.
"This is a perfect draw for the underdogs. They will not focus on us but on themselves and this is exactly where I want to be," said Mannetti in a statement.
According to Mannetti, Namibia have nothing to lose and will go about their business in the best possible way to make Namibia proud.
"We will start our preparations from the May 26 in Egypt. We need to make sure we prepare under the same conditions as it will be very hot in Egypt," added Mannetti.
Namibia will be based in Cairo and open Group D with a match against Morocco on June 23 before taking on South Africa on June 28, both at Al Salam Stadium. They will play the final group game against Cote d'Ivoire on July 1 at Cairo International Stadium.
