With the backing of Andre Russell’s blitzkrieg of 48 runs off 13 balls, Kolkata Knight Riders bagged a spectacular five-wicket win against Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League in Bengaluru on Friday.
In a thrilling match, when KKR needed 66 runs off 24 balls, Andrew Russell came in and smashed an unbeaten 48 off 13 balls to complete the job with five balls to spare. After admitting failure, RCB captain Virat Kohli said: “If you bowl with not enough bravery in the crucial overs, it’s always going to be difficult against power-hitters like Russell.”
Puts to bat first, RCB scored a huge 205 in the stipulated 20 overs. The big hitS of Kohli and AB de Villiers helped RCB to build up a huge score when Virat Kohli made 84 off 49 balls and AB de Villiers made 63 off 32 balls.
Replying to RCB, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a better start with Chris Lynn scored 43 off 31 balls. Apart from Andre Russel, others who chipped in include Robin Uthappa (33) and Nitish Rana (37).
