The ombudsman of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) will reconsider in three months the quantum of punishment for speedster S Sreesanth.
The board told Supreme Court Ombudsman Justice (retd) DK Jain will reconsider the issue of quantum of punishment to be given to Sreesanth for his alleged involvement in the 2013 IPL spot fixing scandal.
The Bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and KM Joseph pronounced this while hearing a BCCI application. The board said that since the disciplinary committee, which had earlier dealt with the matter was not operational now, it could be referred to the court-appointed ombudsman.
The court on March 15 set aside the BCCI disciplinary committee order imposing a life ban on Sreesanth. The cricketer had challenged this in the apex court.
