Brazilian football legend Pele on Wednesday said that he believed Kylian Mbappe, the football forward of France could score 1000 goals. Pele himself holds the records of having scored more than 1000 goals. This comment coming as it does from the ace player is high praise for Mbappe.
The 78 year old Brazilian claims to have scored more than 1000 goals in his career. Mbappe has so far netted 103 goals in total and of these 92 have come at the top level. Pele was in Paris where he met Mbappe at a sponsor event and said this, ‘It’s possible, I scored exactly 1025, so 1000 goals is possible for him.’
The 21 year old footballer was quick to respond. He said, ‘Comparisons are flattering but I know very well that I will never do what he did.’ This is not the first time that Mbappe is being compared to Pele. Pele was just 21 years old when he won his second World Cup in 1962.
Pele further told the youngster that the key to smashing goal scoring records is playing in the very best teams. There have been rumours that Mbappe is looking to move from his current Paris Saint-Germaine team. Mbappe and his Paris teammates have only the French Cup left to fight for this season.
