Chennai, Apr 2 : Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh after his team maintained a slow over-rate during an IPL match against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai.
'As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh', a statement from the IPL's official website said on Sunday. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals lost their third match by eight runs against CSK who registered their third consecutive victory in this season's IPL on Sunday.
While batting first, the hosts led by MS Dhoni's power-packed 46-ball 75 scored 175/5 in their 20 overs. Despite losing early wickets, Rajasthan were in the run chase but eventually fell short by eight runs.
They will now face Royal Challengers Bangalore at home next on April 2.
