Mumbai, Apr 2 : Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma will put their strength to stop Defending champions Chennai Super Kings from another win, when they will face each other at the Wankhede Stadium here on Wednesday. So far, defending champions Chennai have won all their three matches and has been placed on top of the league table with six points, while Mumbai has won one in three games and has been placed on sixth position in the table with just two points.
Having crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, CSK established a winning streak, while Mumbai lost two matches to Delhi and Kings XI Punjab and won one game against RCB in the ongoing season. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 75 not out against Rajasthan, which included three sixes in the last over. Dhoni, with the help of his bowlers, didn't allow Rajasthan to reach the target. If Rohit wants to stop Chennai from winning, then he will have to deal with Dhoni's captaincy cleverly.
Mumbai had to face a defeat in their home match by 37 runs in their first match. Mumbai then defeated Bengalore by six runs in a close encounter but they lost to Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets. Though CSK have the edge in batting depth and in spin bowling variety but ignoring Mumbai Indians might land them into a trouble, while Mumbai Indians have the better pace attack on a pitch that is bound to offer bounce and carry. The middle-order needs to step up as Mumbai Indians are over-dependent on openers Sharma and South African Quinton de Kock.
Both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have won three titles. Mumbai will have to put more focus on their spin department as they are behind their opponents who have Harbhajan Singh, South African Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja, who can snatch the match from their opposition. This match will be played between the two most successful captain. Both the teams have match winning players, who can win matches but eventually it depends on Dhoni and Rohit. (UNI)
