Chandigarh, Mar 22: N Sriram Balaji and Hans Hach Verdugo of Mexico, fourth seeded, rallied to oust Chinese duo of Runhao Hua and Zhizhen Zhang by 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-5 in the doubles quarter-final of the $ 54,160 ATP Challenger Tennis Tournament in Zhangjingang on Thursday.
The match lasted 84 minutes. Balaji-Hach Verdugo recorded 72 per cent first service in and unleashed four aces and committed seven double faults. They won 38 points out of 54 on first service and 8 out of 21 points on second service. Balaji-Hach Verdugo saved three out of six break points and won a solitary break point out of four.
Hua-Zhang had three aces on the scorecard and committed two double faults. They recorded 65 per cent first service in. The Chinese pair won 31 out of 43 points on first service and 13 out of 23 on second service. They saved three out of four break points. The Chinese won three out of six break points.
Balaji-Hach Verdugo will face top seeded pair of Cheng-Peng Hsieh of Taipei and Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia in semi-final. Cheng-Peng Hsieh of Taipei and Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia defeated Vishnu Vardhan of India, who was partnering Luca Margaroli of Switzerland by 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 in 63 minutes in doubles quarter-final.
Vardhan-Margaroli earned $640 and 15 ATP points. UNI
