Chandigarh, Mar 21 : After a 63-minute hard fought battle, Indian ace tennis player Leander Paes, partnering Philipp Oswald of Austria, surrendered before Spanish pair of Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and David Vega-Hernandez in the men's doubles by 1-6, 6-3, 10-4 in the €46,600 ATP Challenger Tennis Tournament in Lille (France). .
Despite having a second seed, Leander Paes-Philipp Oswald pair suffered a shocking exit. It was rather easy for Leander Paes-Philipp Oswald to win the first set 6-1. But Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and David Vega-Hernandez came back and won the second set. The third tie-breaker match was a long-haul tussle, and finally the game slipped away from Paes-Oswald(10-4).
On Wednesday, Oswald-Paes recorded 67 per cent first service in and won 26 out of 31 points on first service and 6 out of 15 points on second service. They, however, could not fully capitalize on winning break points. Out of 10, they could make use of only two.
Garcia-Lopez-Vega-Hernandez recorded 59 per cent of their first service in and won 26 out of 32 points on first service and 10 out of 22 on second service. Their determination fetched them eight break points out of 10 . They won solitary break point out which came their way.
