Chandigarh, Mar 16 : Third-seeded Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan lost a closely fought marathon doubles quarter-final match against American pair of Jamie Cerretani and Nicholas Monroe 6-7 (3), 7-6 (7), 12-10 in the $ 162,480 ATP Challenger at The Phoenix Country Club, Phoenix (Arizona) on Friday.
Bopanna-Sharan saved 10 out of 12 break points but could win only two out of seven break points. The Indian pair won 37 out of 51 points on their first service and 20 out of 41 points on second service. They fired three aces and committed same number of double faults. In the 124-minute thrilling fight, Bopanna-Sharan recorded 55 per cent of their first first service in.
Cerretani and Monroe had just one ace to their credit and committed half a dozen double faults. However, their first service was 71 per cent in. The American pair won 45 out of 66 points on first service and 13 out of 27 on their second service. They saved five out of seven break points and won 2 out of 12 break points.
Bopanna-Sharan earned $ 1920 and 25 points.
