Liverpool ensured its place in the quarter finals of the Champions League by beating Bayern Munich (3-1) in the Champions League.
Two goals from Sadio Mane helped Liverpool beat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. This is first time in 10 years English Premier League teams such as Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City have entered the quarter finals.
It's good for English football," LIverpool's James Milner told BT Sport. "That's what you want. We don't know who we are going to get in the next round but we have good feelings from last year so hopefully we can carry that on and go as far as we can."
Liverpool, last year's beaten finalist, always carried the greater threat going forward with Sadio Mane, the man in form, a constant thorn in Bayern's side.
The Reds carried more of a cutting edge and took the lead in the tie in the 26th minute when Mane displayed an exquisite touch to bring down Virgil van Dijk's raking pass before firing into an empty net after Manuel Neuer had rushed from his goal.
Expectant waves of attack from the German champions never materialised after the break, and Van Dijk all but ensured Liverpool's spot in the last eight when he powered home James Milner's corner.
Mane capped off an excellent display when he headed in his second six minutes from time. It was his 10th goal in the past 10 games.
