Guwahati, Mar 4 : Riding on opener Tamsin Beaumont's 62, visitors England put up a target of 161 for India in the first T20 match between the two women's side at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.
The Indian bowlers failed to impress, with Radha Yadav picking up two wickets, while Shikha Pandey and Deepti Sharma picking one each.
The England team had a confident start with Beaumont and Danielle Wyatt putting up 89, before Wyatt was caught by the Indian skipper Smriti Mandhana, off Shikha Pandey at personal score of 35 from 34 balls.
Natalie Sciver, who came in at the fall of Wyatt's wicket, lasted for only four balls, scoring as many runs, as Poonam Yadav caught her off a Radha Yadav delivery. Beaumont then partnered with her captain Heather Knight and took the team score to 154 in 18.6 overs.
Knight fell for a personal score of 40 off 20 balls with Veda Krishnamuthy catching her off a Deepti Sharma ball. Beaumont was next to go, hitting 62 from 57, with three balls remaining and team score of 157.
The visitors winded up their innings at 160 for four, putting up a defendable score. Arundhati Reddy was the most expensive bowler for India, going for 45 runs in her four overs with no wickets. (UNI)
