Chandigarh, March 1 : Top seed Ajay Malik and second-seeded Chirag Duhan won Under-18 and Under-16 boys singles titles of CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament, respectively, at Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here on Friday.
Ajay Malik defeated his opponents in straight sets. Ajay won the 1st set without getting much pressure 6-3. In the second set, both the players played good level of tennis with high intensity. Finally Ajay used his experience and won the set and match 7-5.
In the boys Under-16 singles final, second seed Chirag Duhan from Haryana emerged victorious as Sushant Dabas withdrew due to injury.
Qualifier Anjali Rathi won girls Under-18 singles title. Anjali upset second seed Vanshika Chaudhary in straight sets 6-2, 7-6(6). Anjali played in a top form with her aggressive ground stroke from the baseline. Anjali played consistently with her energetic forehand and backhand from the baseline to win the match in straight sets.
In the girls Under-16 singles final, Vaishnavi Adkar of Maharashtra won title. Vaishnavi Adkar won the match 6-4, 6-2. CLTA Founder and Patron-in-Chief Rajan Kashyap and CLTA Chief Operating Officer Megh Raj distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up of both categories.
