Chennai, Feb 27 : India's Saurav Ghosal entered the
quarterfinals with a hard fought win over Joel Makin of Wales
in the PSA World squash championship at Chicago early on
A SRFI release here said the 11th seeded Indian won 11-13,
11-7, 11-7, 13-11, but the success did not come easily, thanks
to the way the unseeded opponent fought for every point.
Makin, who had previously lost to Saurav in the CCI International
in Mumbai in 2017, presented himself as a much better player.
The way he snatched the first game, Saurav knew his hands
However, the Indian was able to tighten his approach to win the
next two. In the fourth, Saurav was trailing 5-8 and Makin looked
all over. The experience of Saurav came to the fore as he clawed his way back and earned three match balls before sealing a close win to
make the last eight grades.
This was for the second time Saurav has reached the last eight
of the World Squash event, the earlier being in 2013.
Saurav next faces the third seed German Simon Rosner. UNI
