Bengaluru, Feb 27: Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson has been ruled out of the remainder of Australia's tour of India due to a side injury, Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday.
Richardson suffered pain on his left side ahead of the first T20I which Australia won by three wickets in Visakhapatnam and failed to recover on time. Therefore, he did not play that game.
Andrew Tye has been named as Richardson's replacement for the tour, according to the ICC's official website. He played in the T20I home series against India last year.
“Kane reported some left side pain at training prior to the opening T20I in Vizag," said David Beakley, the team physiotherapist.
"Unfortunately he has not recovered well enough in order to play a further part in the tour. Kane will return home to continue his rehabilitation, and we will monitor his progress over the coming weeks', he added.
The second and final T20I will be played in Bengaluru on February 27, which will be followed by a five-match one-day international series. (UNI)
