Kolkata, Feb 25 : Bottom side Aizawl FC grabbed a point with 1-1 tie dashing Quess East Bengal title hope further in I-League even as the northeast side reduced to 10-man in half-way at second half at Salt Lake Stadium here on Monday. The draw meant a fair chance for Chennai City to win the marathon league quite comfortably as they topped the table with 40 points from 18 matches, seven points more from second place East Bengal, and Real Kashmir, also have 33 points from 17 games. Ninth place Aizawl FC stunned the hosts with a 23rd minute strike from Hero of the Match Zikahi Dojoj and the visitors could have gone with 2-0 lead at half time if the goal from Ansumana Kromah was not disallowed by the referee. Instead Kromah got an yellow card as the referee thought he grabbed the ball from East Bengal goalkeeper Rakshit Dagar and put into the net. East Bengal leveled the score in the 65th minute through Enrique Alejandro Esqueda Tirado's header from a right flank floater of substitute Samad Mallick, whose coming in the second half proved fruitful. As East Bengal were pushing for a winner and their rivals also pressing hard for a decider temper ran high among the players when Kareem Omolaja Nurain of Aizawl made foul on Jobby Justin. As the referee was to punish the errand player, he involved in argument and finally got red card in the 70th minute. But the visitors kept their post intact thereafter and grabbed a point to 15 from 17 matches so far and dashing EB tile hope further.
