India beat New Zealand in Fifth ODI


Cricket Team India once again put its mastery on display when they beat New Zealand in the fifth ODI played at Wellington on Sunday,February 3. India won the toss and opted to bat first. They put up a total of 252 runs. A not too difficult task for New Zealand but the hosts could score only 217 runs as they were all bowled out. Ambati Rayudu won the Man of the Match Award. Mohammed Shami was adjudged the Man of the Series.

This is a phenomenal turnaround for India considering they were at one point 18 for 4 in their batting innings!

A happy Captain, Rohit Sharma and his team in blue collected the trophy. Rohit handed over the trophy to Shubham Gill who hesitant and shyly accepted it while he was egged on by the rest of the team with loud cheers. With this it is a 4-1 series win for India and understandably the team is in celebratory mode.

Rohit Sharma said after the match, ‘Coming here and beating New Zealand on home ground wasn’t going to be easy. The achievement we’ve today is a great achievement to have.
