U Turn by BCCI: Hardik, Rahul suspension lifted

In a surprise move the BCCI has lifted the ban suspending cricketers KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya for 3 games. Ever since the suspension, opinion has been divided on whether the suspension was justified. While some felt that the suspension was deserved for their misogynist and sexist remarks on ‘Koffee with Karan’, others opined that the punishment was too harsh.

Now the BCCI itself has had a rethink and lifted the suspension. The reason quoted by the BCCI seems odd as they have exploited a legal loophole by saying that since BCCI did not have an ombudsman appointed by the Supreme Court the ban was lifted.

Many players and cricket fans had come in support of the duo saying that they were young and inexperienced and perhaps made these comments in a lighter vein taking into consideration the type of show they appeared in. Moreover Hardik Pandya had apologized in writing for his comments.

The players have already suffered a lot and also missed playing international matches. The matter cannot be dragged on forever felt cricketer Deep Dasgupta when talking to a news channel. Rahul Dravid had also come out and spoken in favour of getting the boys back into the game and not making too much of this incident.

Indian cricket fans will be relieved to hear this news for it is a fact that there is no other pace bowler and all rounder in the Indian team who can come in as Hardik’s replacement .
