Adelaide, Dec 8 : After Australian batters' dismal performance on day two, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has said that we have never witnessed defensive mindset by the Australian batsmen in their home condition.
Australia Head Coach Justin Langer defended their batters saying allowances should be given to youth and inexperience players.
The 45-year-old former India skipper who took to twitter to express his view over Australian batting, tweeted, 'TeamIndia should make the most of this situation and not lose their grip. The defensive mindset by the Australian batsmen at home is something I’ve not seen before in my experience. @ashwinravi99 has been very effective and has played a role to help the team be on top, for now.”
However, while interacting with an Australia-based radio channel, coach Langer replied to Tendulkar's tweet, saying, 'Every time Tendulkar had played against Australia he had Allan Border or David Boon, guys who have played 300 or 400 Tests between them. We’ve literally got kids when it comes to Test cricket playing. They’re just finding their own skin, they’re fighting their backsides off, not only to help us win the Test match, but to find out what Test cricket’s about."
You’re always looking to score, every one of them is looking to score, but Indian bowled really well, specially, Ashwin bowled well, we’ve got to find different ways of playing him, that’ll come, he added.
After the second day of the Adelaide match , the former Australian Test opener talking to the broadcaster, had said that he knew there would be so much questions like Sachin's comment over Aussies performances.
In reply to India’s 250 runs, the Aussies were bowled out for 235 in the first innings of the first Test in Adelaide on day three. India were 166/3, at stumps.(UNI)
