Chennai, Dec 4: More than 25,000 participants would vie for honours in the Skechers Performance Chennai Marathon 2019 to be held on January 6, 2019.
Indian Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik unveiled the official jersey for the marathon at an event held here on Tuesday. Powered by Chennai Runners, along with title sponsors Skechers, an American performance and lifestyle footwear brand, the Marathon, in its seventh edition, would offer total prize money of Rs 25, 00,000. It was now the second largest running event in the country. As in the past, this year also the Chennai Marathon will be supporting a cause, the theme being ‘Access to Sports for Para Athletes’.
The aim was to develop training facilities for Para athletes, identify potential talents and support them with training to achieve laurels for the country on the International stage. The Marathon would consist of four events for men and women, that included Full Marathon (42.195 km), Perfect 20 Miler (32.186 Km)--a new race category being held for the first time ever in a major marathon event--Half Marathon(21.097km) and 10 Km run.
