Indian tennis has an unprecedented depth, says Mahesh Bhupati

New Delhi, Dec 4: India's Davis Cup captain and multiple Grand Slam winner Mahesh Bhupathi on Tuesday said here that the depth that India had in tennis earlier, is not the same today, adding that the game is being headed in the right direction and Prajnesh, Yuki, Ram and many more right behind them are doing well.

Ten kids from different parts of the country, including four girls, have been selected to represent India as the Official Kia Ball Kids for the Australian Open 2019, where Bhupathi had played a key role in shortlisting 100 boys and girls across the country, before taking up the mantle of mentoring them.

"More than 1,800 young tennis enthusiasts from across India attended open try-outs out of which the Australian Open Officials selected the biggest ever squad of 10 for the Australian open", Bhupathi added.

"This is an amazing opportunity for those who are getting a chance to play Tennis in Melbourne with professionals will have more experience to gain and do wonderful in life", the India's Davis Cup captain said. (UNI)
