Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 28: Madhya Pradesh eye big first inning lead against Kerala as the hosts were bundled out for a paltry total on the opening day's play of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match at St Xavier's ground here on Wednesday.
MP dominated on the opening day over Kerala. The visitors managed to dismiss the host for a paltry 63 besides reaching 161 for two at stumps, leading by 98 runs. Kerala, who were leading the Elite Group with 13 points after posting two successive wins, tumbled down like a deck of cards before the MP bowling attack.
Kerala won the toss and opted to bat first. Contrary to the expectations, Kerala lost their wickets in quick succession to wind up their first inning for a meagre 63 runs. For MP, Avesh Khan picked 4 wickets while Kuldeep Sen claimed 3.
In reply, MP reached 161 for 2 at stumps - a lead of 98, with an unbeaten stand between Rajat Patidar (70) and skipper Naman Ojha (53).
