Jalal Saxena’s first ton at Eden gives Kerala a huge lead against Bengal in Ranji Trophy

Kolkata, Nov 21: Jalal Saxena's first ton (143 with 21 4s and 2 sixes) at Eden Gardens gave Kerala a huge lead against Bengal when the visitors posted 291 all out in 83 overs in reply to hosts' 147 all out in the first innings on Day 2 in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match on Tuesday.

At end of second day Bengal were 5/1 and trailed by 139 with nine wickets in hand in the second innings. Kerala began the second day with 35/1 with overnight not out batsmen Jalal Saxena (14 ) and Rohan Prem (14) but the latter fell quickly adding only 4 runs.

He was caught by Vivek Singh off Ashoke Dinda when the score was 53, Wicket keeper Sanju Samson also fell quickly as he was found before the wicket off Mohammad Shami without opening a score.

Captain Sachin Baby (23) gave some support to Jalal Saxena, who virtually fought single handedly against the pacers and spinners and scored his 14th ton in first class cricket. (UNI)
