Mohun Began face Indian Arrows in I-league tomorrow

Kolkata, Nov 9: Kolkata football giants Mohun Bagan travelled to Bhubaneshwar to play their second away match of this edition of Hero I-League against Indian Arrows at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack tomorrow.

The arrows team has started the season on a decent note after losing the match against Chennai they came back strong against Lajong garnering 3 points. Floyd Pinto has carried the team well, the zeal with which they played last season is being seen this year as well.

Players like Jeakson Singh, Rahim Ali have improved so much and the blistering pace with which they go about is an area of concern for most of the teams.

Sankarlal Chakrborty will definitely look to avail the maximum point from this match. Mohun Bagan team has only achieved 2 points from as many matches. Last match against Aizawl at home ended in a draw where Aizawl scored a late equaliser from David’s breathtaking free kick.

Sankarlal will surely look to bury the past and march on to get his team back on track. The best part for Sankarlal was the coming of Sony Norde and scoring his first goal after 9 months. Mohun Bagan Head Coach had too many positives to take out from their last match.

With the luxury of having 6 foreigners Mohun Bagan will have an out and out advantage over the Arrows. But last year the Green-Maroon brigade was only able to avail 4 points from two encounters.

Arrows on other hand will always look to play the match with pace, Floyd Pinto will look to attack from the flanks to keep the Mohun Bagan wing backs not to overlap too much.

Overall it will be a match of temperament, the supremacy of Mohun Bagan will have an edge over the exuberant Arrows.

Sankarlal Chakraborty in today’s pre-match press conference stated “Mohun Bagan team has come here only with one perspective that is to get 3 points, but it will not be an easy proposition against these young colts. They are young and with time have gained the quantum of experience by playing the top flight league. This is the only team in the entire I-League to have had more number of foreign exposure trips.”

He said, “The last match against Shillong Lajong is proof of that, the confidence can be seen in every Arrows player.”

He further added that “Mohun Bagan team is ready and all players are fit for tomorrow’s crucial encounter”.

Mohun Bagan team trained today at Barabati Stadium from 10 am to 11 am. (UNI)
