Kolkata, Nov 7: Second seeded Shruti Gupta survived a scare from unseeded Shatavisa Ghosh in the semi finals of the ongoing Calcutta Hard Court Tennis Championship 2018, been held at the Calcutta South Club Ltd here today.
In the semi finals of the Women's Open Singles, it was a tough day for Shruti Gupta, seeded 2 in the draw, as she tried to brush Shatavisa aside.
After grabbing a set each, it was a test of nerves in the decider as both the players rallied for long and struggled for every single point till luck favoured Gupta, as she got a crucial break at 4-3 and thereafter packed her opponent off with no further error.
Gupta won by 6-3,4-6,6-3.
She will face top seeded Yubrani Banerjee, seeded 16 in the country, in the finals on Friday.
Banerjee saw off her opponent, Mahima Kumar by an ease 6-1,6-0.
