Kolkata, Nov 8: Former world champion Viswanathan Anand will face USA's Wesley Barabasa. So in the opening day of the Tata Steel Chess India 2018 championship, the biggest so far is being organised in the country, beginning from November 9 in the city where world top 11 Grandmasters will vie for honours.
The tournament from November 9-14 at Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) comprise Rapid as well as Blitz competitions where the participants will play a single round robin ( all play all).
Rapid tournament November 9.10, and 11 followed by a double round round robin Blitz tournament on November 13 and 14, being organised by Tata Steel under FIDE ( International Chess Federation) and All India Chess Federation and Bengal Chess Association.
Besides five times world champion Viswanathan Anand and world No 10 Wesley So, the competitors are Hikaru Nakamura (USA), Levon Aronian from Armenia, Sergey Karjakin from Russia, Shakhriyar Masmedyarov from Azerbijan India's Pentala Harikrishna, Surya Sekhar Ganguly, Vidit Gujarati, Nihal Sarin and Pragfgnanandhaaa Rameshbabu.
